The records of the reign of Thotmes III., who has sometimes been called the Alexander the Great of Egypt, bear testimony to a decisive fight in his time near Megiddo, and enumerate the names of many towns in the neighbourhood, most of which occur in Bible history, of which the spoil was carried to Egypt and placed in the temples of the Egyptian gods.
We know practically nothing of very early Egyptian metallurgy, but in the time of Thotmes III.
It is mentioned in the tribute from Babylonia to Thotmes III., who lived about 1500 B.C.
Changed "Thothmes" to "Thotmes" in footnote 6 on page 362: "the time of Thotmes III."
By far the most interesting naval records of this dynasty are the accounts, in the temple of Dêr-el-Bahari close to Thebes, of the famous expedition to the land of Punt, carried out by order of that remarkable woman Queen Hatshepsu, who was the daughter of Thotmes I., half-sister and wife of Thotmes II., and aunt and step-mother of the famous king Thotmes III.
