What does beekeeping age mean?

Beekeeping age is a slang phrase that refers to a middle age range and is usually used specifically to describe an attractive older man, as in Mark’s dad is in his beekeeping age.

Beekeeping age is typically used to describe a man who is in his 40s or 50s who is thought to be physically attractive, mature, and/or charismatic. In this context, beekeeping age is used to refer to a man who might also be described as a silver fox or DILF.

The phrase beekeeping age became popular as a 2023 social media meme that referenced a 2020 episode of the cartoon Rick and Morty.

Where does beekeeping age come from?

beekeeping

The phrase beekeeping age comes from “Promortyus,” the seventh episode of season four of the adult cartoon Rick and Morty, which originally aired on May 11, 2020. At the end of the episode, a teenage girl observes another character’s father, Jerry, engaging in his beekeeping hobby. The girl becomes increasingly attracted to Jerry as she observes him. At one point, the girl asks her friend how old Jerry is while stating that he is “obviously beekeeping age.”

The beekeeping age line was not meant as anything special and was mostly only shared as an inside joke among Rick and Morty fans for the next few years.

In 2023, the phrase beekeeping age became popular because of a trend on TikTok in which creators reenacted the beekeeping age scene from Rick and Morty and used the phrase to refer to attractive older men.
