What does fit check mean?

A fit check is a request for others to check out the requester’s outfit. Specifically, fit check is often used to refer to a photo or video in which a person is showing off a fashionable outfit.

The term fit check is mostly used on social media. Often, a person will post a photo or video of themselves along with the term fit check or the hashtag #fitcheck to show off an outfit they think is stylish and cool. These photos and videos themselves are also often referred to as fit checks.

Example: I bought some swag new clothes so I posted a fit check on TikTok.

Fit check uses the word fit in the slang sense of a shortening of outfit. A fit check is a request for others to check (look at) their fit (outfit).

The term fit check has been used on social media since at least 2017.
