What does bukkake mean?
Bukkake is Japanese word which roughly translates to “to splash with liquid” and refers to a popular cold noodle dish.
The term is better known, though, as something very, very different. It’s a sex act and genre of pornography where a group of masturbating men encircle another person, usually a woman, and ejaculate on her. The person can even be replaced by food. Do not Google mushy biscuit.

Bukkake soba and udon have long been popular dishes in Japan and are just cold noodles splashed with sauce or broth. There’s nothing sexual about them, but they’re extremely delicious.
Although urban legends insist that the sexual bukkake originated as a punishment for unfaithful wives in feudal Japan, there’s no historical evidence to back it up.
Bukkake actually comes from the incredibly creative world of Japanese porn. Japanese law requires genitals to be blurred out in pornography, so bukkake, much like tentacle porn, was a way to get around those laws. (“Can’t show a penis? OK. We’ll show a woman covered in semen. ¯_(ツ)_/¯). One early bukkake film was 1986’s Mascot Note. And then extreme porn producer Jeff Mike brought bukkake to the US in his 1998 film Perverted Stories 21. Mike went on to make the many, many, many installments of American Bukkake series starting in 1999.

Noodle lovers and Japanese speakers who want to splash liquid on things use the word bukkake, obviously, though it’s typically not so appetizing to talk about bukkake outside that context, given how it’s most associated with porn. Like on PornHub, where there are there nearly 27,000 videos tagged bukkake.
Jokes about bukkake have made it into plenty of non-pornographic films, too, including 2016’s Why Him? And The Brothers Grimsby.
There’s also the card game Bukkake!, billed on Amazon as being “more fun and less messy than real bukkake.”
If you’re not ordering noodles or splashing water in your Japanese class, you should probably avoid using bukkake. Just tell your parents that you were researching bukkake on Dictionary.com when you get busted for your internet history. Yeah, that’s it. They’ll but that.
