Nom de plume of the twentieth-century Danish writer Baroness Karen Blixen. From 1914 to 1931 she lived on a coffee plantation in what is now Kenya and in 1937 published her memoirs of that time, Out of Africa, which was the basis for the 1985 film of the same name.
