niacin vs. niacinamide

niacin vs. niacinamide: What's the difference?

Niacin and niacinamide are both forms of Vitamin B. Niacin (or nicotinic acid) is a compound found in fresh meat and yeast. Niacinamide (the amide of nicotinic acid) is a compound with a slightly different chemical formula that is found in meat, liver, fish, whole wheat, and eggs. Both are used to treat niacin deficiency.
