A Juno is a Canadian music industry award presented by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS). The event at which these awards are presented is called the Juno Awards, or the Junos for short.
Much like the Grammy Awards in the U.S., the Junos are considered the premiere event of the Canadian music industry. Junos are awarded in dozens of categories. The first event called the Juno Awards was held in 1971. They are named in honor of Pierre Juneau, a Canadian broadcaster.
